We HIGHLY recommend that you house your new rabbit indoors. Rabbits are prey animals and San Diego County is home to many predators such as hawks, owls, coyotes, raccoons, foxes and bob cats, all of which kill small animals left outside (even rabbits kept in a cage or hutch). Wet or hot weather and parasites such as fleas, flies, and mosquitoes also can be deadly to rabbits. You can easily house your rabbit indoors and make him a part of your family. He will live a much longer and healthier life, and you will enjoy him so much more. Learn more about housing your bunny indoors: Indoor Bunny Housing

Simon *** Neutered male Dwarf/Standard mix, medium size, black, about 2 years old.
Simon is a wonderfully sweet, mellow guy who will give you kisses if you win his heart! He's a compact five pounds or so, and is all love and squishiness. He loves to be pet and also enjoys exploring.
Update: Simon is currently enjoying a larger "suite" outside the bunny house. Please ask staff to see him!

Bluebell *** Spayed female Rex, medium size, white, about 2 years old.
Bluebell is one of eight siblings who were born in June of 2008 and all looked exactly alike. To tell them apart, their foster mom put a tiny permanent marker dot on each baby bunny's ear. As you may have guessed, Bluebell got her name from the blue dot in her ear. She is sweet and gentle, and would be a good first-time bunny. She might also be a good companion choice for your mellow, neutered male. Bluebell loves attention and and will patiently sit in your lap while you pet her. Bluebell is perfect with her litter box and is an all-around great bunny! She'd be a great match for a family with gentle children.

Star *** Spayed female Standard mix, medium to large, black with a white paw, 4-1/2 years old (born August 2005).
Star was born in a shelter and spent her "childhood" in a foster home. She came to Rancho Coastal in early 2006 with a brother, and both were adopted together. Sadly her brother passed away not long after, and due to personal problems her family recently brought Star back to the shelter. Star is very sad and scared, and it is obvious that she hasn't had a good diet as she is very overweight. With fresh yummy hay, TLC from our wonderful volunteers at the shelter, and lots of runtime in the bunny play yards she'll slim down and hopefully find happiness again. More than anything, Star needs a new home soon where she will be cherished and loved for the rest of her life. I think Star would like to find a new bunny friend if possible. She was always very sweet to her brother.

Morgan *** Spayed female Florida White mix, small-medium size, white, about 4 years old.
Morgan is a sweet, easygoing bunny girl who would be great with gentle children. Please don't be put off by her plain-Jane looks... she charms everyone she meets! In fact she's a staff favorite and is getting extra "advertising" with a poster in the shelter lobby. Morgan is very mellow and is a great choice for a first-time bunny owner. She would love to have a Cottontail Cottage if possible: she loves to sit on top of it to survey her Bunny Kingdom :o)

Mocha *** Neutered male Lop mix, small to medium size, brown, about 6 months old (born early December 2009).
Mocha is a playful young bunny. He carries his ears "helicopter style" (one up and one own) but if he's really paying attention to what you're saying he'll have both ears up! Mocha is still growing but will most likely end up small to medium sized. He has spent time in a foster home and is used to being around cats and dogs, so he will most likely do well with any kind and gently family.

Mindy *** Spayed female Standard mix, small to medium size, white with black markings; about 3 years old.
Mindy was born in a shelter and spent about 2 years in foster care before moving to RCHS. She's hoping to finally find a real home soon. She used to live with her brother but sadly he passed away and she might like to have a bunny companion again in the future. As you can see Mindy is a super cute little girl. She's looking forward to meeting you!

Honey *** Spayed female Standard mix, medium size, harlequin (brown/black), about 6 months old (born early December 2009).
Honey got her name from her coloring and her sweet, laid-back personality. She's a beautiful young lady who loves to be pet. Having spent time in a foster home, she is used to being around friendly cats and dogs.

Oreo *** Spayed female Dutch, small, black & white, about 1 year old.
Yes, another black and white bunny named Oreo! She's a sweet girl who loves to be pet; unfortunately she was sick a while ago and while she's all better now, she's learned to avoid hands who might try to make her take her medication! Staff and volunteers at Rancho Coastal are working with little Oreo to help her trust people again. She wants nothing more than a loving new home where she will be loved and treated like the little princess she is.

Basil *** Neutered Male Standard Mix, medium size, grey, about 10 months old.
Basil is adorable, and is accustomed to being adored and getting lots of love and attention. He would probably do well with another rabbit in the household. With his unique looks and wonderful personality, it's a wonder nobody has snatched him up yet!

Marcie *** Spayed female Dutch, medium size, black and white, about 2 years old.
Like most Dutch rabbits Marcie is active, intelligent and curious. Since she spent the first part of her life in small confined cages, she very much dislikes cages. She has been in foster care for over a year now and greatly enjoys her large pen that affords her the space to move about freely, play in and on boxes, and do bunny dances. She loves to nap on top of her boxes and survey her world. She has grown more trusting of humans and loves to be petted.
Marcie enjoys her periodic treats of parsley, carrot tops, and a papaya nibble and her new family would do well to not be too generous with goodies. Despite her active nature she will easily put on weight if fed too many goodies. She is in excellent health with a diet of 90% timothy hay, 9% oat hay & 1% veggies.
Marcie can get nippy so an adult only home is desired for this special girl. If you are a first time bunny owner be prepared to learn about these special bunnies before committing to a relationship. Intelligent bunnies like Marcie excel at training their people if allowed to do so. An alpha bunny mentality is required.
***Marcie is living in a foster home. She is not at the shelter but is available for adoption. If you'd like to meet her please call her foster mom, Debra, at 760-727-8337.***

Harry Potter *** Neutered male Dutch mix, small-medium size, black & white, about 4 years old.
Let him cast a spell on your heart! Harry Potter is used to living in a home with children, and hanging inside with the family. When he is out with you he is calm, lets you pick him up, and loves all the attention. With that lightning bolt on his forehead clearly there was no better name for him than Harry Potter. Let the magic begin!

Jasper (right) & Daisy (left) *** Neutered male Dwarf mix, medium size, tan, about 3 years old (Jasper) / Spayed female Standard mix, medium size, silver, about 4 years old (Daisy).
Pretty Daisy (on the left) has been at RCHS for 2 years now. It's hard to figure out why as she's nothing but sweet and easygoing! She doesn't mind being held either. During her two years at the shelter she was adopted and returned twice, both times through no fault of her own: the first time, she was adopted as a companion to another rabbit who ended up not getting along with her.
The second time, she was adopted together with Jasper and the pair were returned to the shelter when the family fell on hard times. Daisy has remained her sweet old self through all this and has brought much happiness to her friend Jasper. Jasper has spent a couple years in shelters as well, and had become stressed and defensive; but Daisy's calm, loving demeanor helped him relax and be happy again.
You know what's missing? A loving home where Jasper & Daisy can play and snuggle and bring smiles & warm fuzzies to their new family! Could it be with you?
Yummy Treats & Bunny Love: Watch a video of Jasper & Daisy!
P.S. These two are just lovely to behold... her silver coloring and his warm tan really complement each other, they are one of the most beautiful bunny pairs I have ever met!
